School Board Appreciation Week

In honor of School Board Appreciation Week, here is a poem for our School Board members. Remember they are volunteers, they are human, and they dedicate hours of their lives working for our district. Thank you to Mr. Bohling, Mrs. Marzeski, Mrs. Duevel, Mr. Smith and Ms. Zuba for stepping up. 
Around the table, late at night,
Beneath the steady fluorescent light,
With coffee cold and binders deep,
While others rest and fall asleep,
They sit and listen, speak and weigh,
To shape the path of a brighter day.

No paycheck waits upon their desk,
No glory in the daily stress,
Just budget sheets and policy lines,
And quiet hopes for future signs.
They talk of roofs, and books, and pay,
And how to guide the kids their way.

They take the fire, they take the grace,
To hold a steady, open space,
Where every child can find a start,
Built with a patient, stubborn heart.
Unsung, unpaid, through every year—
A school board volunteer stands here.
