An Authentic Spanish Experience

On October 8th, Señora Ferreira, RSCS' new Spanish teacher, collaborated with Mrs. Kalkowsky to teach her Life Skills classes how to make Ojos de Diós decorations. They viewed a brief video explaining how the tradition began and then Señora Ferreira taught the class how to say color names in Spanish. They started with the colors of the rainbow, and added a few extra colors. The students described their clothing colors and other objects in the room. The students spent three periods working on their decorations with Señora, and those turned out beautiful. All the students worked hard to learn the vocabulary and did a fantastic job!  Spanish 3 students, Mackenzie Burdick and Payton McCord, co-taught a session with Señora, and their help was invaluable. Señora Ferreira and Mrs. Kalkowsky have agreed to help the Life Skills classes make a homemade Piñata in the near future!
