ENRICHMENT
There are so many opportunities these days to continue to grow as a student, be it online or over the summer, now is always a great time to explore career's of interest. The more exposure students have at a young age, the better mentoring they can get to enter a field or the sooner they can realize the field wasn't what they were looking for. This also is a huge help as it can save years of college tuition. Below are a number of great local opportunities. Student's can also search for state and local opportunities using their Naviance accounts. Just log in and look under the "College" tab for "Summer Enrichment". Some camps are free, while others do cost money. For those that have an expense, look into scholarships run directly by the program or consider reaching out to community agencies with similar philanthropic goals.

College Explore by College For Every Student (CFES) (Free)
The CFES advisors provide sophomore and junior students with details of this program each year.
The program is free, but students must get transportation to the campus. Recent locations have included Skidmore College in Saratoga and St. Michaels in Vermont.
The three-day residential campus experience provides guidance on the college process. Participants stay in campus residence halls, attend mock-classes taught by college professors, and participate in a variety of workshops to help prepare them for the college application process. All students who attend the program are expected to complete a post-program activity – for example, sharing what they learn with their CFES Scholar peers upon returning to school in September. Program details include mentor group sessions led by college admissions professionals related to: writing a personal statement, admissions representatives' perspectives, how to best present yourself, key elements to college success, choosing the right college, the importance of self-evaluations and leadership development.
